| 2. The Takeoff and Estimating Process |
| From beginning to end, the takeoff and estimate uses a logical work flow. Start with a new project file. Click through a sequence of windows to enter job information and markup percentages. Then, develop the rest of the estimate in Work Records. |
| Work Records |
Work Records are the main building blocks of your estimate. It's where you organize the project into a clear work breakdown structure. And where you apply measurements to a collection of cost items. Enter a few variables, and estimate a multitude of items and assemblies. It's that easy. |
|
|
Once you create a Work Record, you can save it to a Library. For future estimates, simply recall a Work Record from the Library and make any necessary changes. It's that versatile. Work Records do it your way. |
| Measurement Spreadsheets |
In each Work Record, measurements can be recorded to a spreadsheet cell. The measurements are linked to cost items and assemblies. One measurement can be used by many items. In-depth formulas including trig functions, if/then logic and lookup tables are easily incorporated into the Excel compatible spreadsheets. The link between cost items and measurement spreadsheet cells automatically generates final pricing and purchasing quantities from the takeoff. |
|
| |
Digitizer Interface |
|
Another spreadsheet bonus is the BidWorx leading-edge digitizer interface. You can electronically execute the takeoff directly from your plans.
Simply click on a spreadsheet cell and activate the digitizer. Input plan dimensions by pointing and tracing. You'll see on-screen images of lengths, areas and counted points. Areas are closed automatically along with the perimeter measurement. |
| 3. Analysis and Reporting Tools |
| Analysis |
See your costs, work-hours, and quantities with a simple click. View your estimate in a variety of ways. Analyze summary and detailed information.
Drill down features expand the detail by division, subdivision and Work Record. Analyze the estimate through four user-definable Work Record class categories. Export data to other programs for further analysis and manipulation. All project information is clearly displayed on-screen. |
|
| |
Reporting |
|
When you complete the estimate, choose from the BidWorx collection of professional reports. Address all aspects of the estimate. Use print preview to see the report on the screen. And if that's not enough, use the custom report writer.
The BidWorx custom report writer lets you easily create virtually any type of report. You have complete control of titles, fonts and colors.
