ArcGIS Publisher is an ArcGIS extension that converts map documents (MXD) to published map files (PMF). PMFs contain instructions about the location and symbology of data layers including geodatabase connectivity and Internet connections. PMFs are viewable through ArcReader, a free downloadable product from ESRI, which along with ArcGIS Publisher, allows map creators to easily publish and share their work locally and via the Internet.
ArcGIS Publisher lets you:
• Create rich interactive maps that meet your users' needs.
• Protect your maps, including cartography and data, from inappropriate use.
• Easily package the required data and maps for distribution.
• Build custom versions of ArcReader for your viewing audience.
