RouteMAP IMS is a stand-alone Internet-based site locator application that helps companies add mapping and routing capabilities to their Web sites. RouteMAP IMS is software that resides on your server, allowing you to change, edit, and serve an unlimited number of maps and routes, while giving you total control of content and the user interface.

RouteMAP IMS offers an affordable out-of-the-box Internet Map Server (IMS) designed for companies that wish to add mapping and routing capabilities to their Web sites. Application service providers (ASPs) can use RouteMAP IMS to offer customers the ability to map their locations. Using a standard Web browser, individuals can access these maps to find and route the nearest company locations. Maps reside on the ASP's computers and are served to customer Web sites that have map author software for map creation and publishing.

RouteMAP IMS lets you create custom maps with symbols for your unique locations, edit map feature layers, create map routes between locations with the alternative of optimized multiple stops, and display and print driving directions and maps to your locations. RouteMAP IMS reads ESRI shapefile format for user-added map layers and comes with data sets for the United States, Canada, and Europe, with Dun & Bradstreet business listings (USA).

RouteMAP IMS runs on Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0 or higher.

RouteMAP IMS software consists of three parts—Map Author, Server Manager, and WebGate Manager. The Map Author is the tool for map creation. The Server Manager manages where the bulk of the application resides, serving maps and generating driving directions. The WebGate Manager is the communication and scalability component.

You can use RouteMAP IMS out of the box or you can customize it to match your needs or your Web page design using an open Application Programming Interface (API) included with the software. The API can be called from ASP, Visual Basic, or JavaScript. Besides adding unique symbols for a location to the map, other key features of RouteMAP IMS allow for finding an address, area code, city, county, or postal code (USA and Canada) or finding a city in Europe; displaying and printing driving directions with maps to a location; and zooming in, zooming out, panning, measuring distances, and spatial queries. Select one or more data packs—USA, Canada, and/or Europe.
